Preparing for Race Season

The local track, Buddyboys RC Raceway, is preparing to begin the winter indoor season. They run carpet oval, as well as offroad. For the offroad, they reconfigure the oval and place wooden jumps and other obstacles on the carpet. This season they are planning some changes to the offroad track layout. This week they will be testing a figure 8 off road track, where one lane has to jump over the other. It should be very cool. We’ll bring you race reports once the season begins.

With the opening race October 30, its time to prep the fleet.  I’m pretty much ready to go, save a few last minute items on my newest car. This year I’ll be trying my hand at a new class, 17.5 Sportsman Truck. This class runs a spec tire, 17.5T motor, and no timing is allowed in the ESC. They also have a specific battery you have to use. The idea here is that everyone has equal equipment, and it makes for a more beginner friendly class. Having never run a pan car class before, this should be very educational, and fun.

That’s the bottom line, isn’t it? Having fun.

Here’s a video from last year’s indoor season at Buddyboys RC raceway.
