Serpent Cobra GT – New photos

Serpent has plastered us with a bunch of shots of their soon to be released Cobra GT. This thing looks flipping cool.

Expected to release in May 2012, check it out.

“Serpent announces the release of the Serpent Cobra ⅛ scale GT car.

The Serpent Cobra GT is based on the Cobra platform of the Buggy.   The Cobra GT however is a true ⅛ scale onroad racing car, developed by  Billy Easton, backed up by Serpent’s onroad experience and engineering.

The GT-8 class is very popular in USA, Japan, Central and South America, and some countries in Europe and Asia as well.   The GT8 class races with 3.5cc ( .21)  engines and pipe-systems, use rubber tyres only on large spoked wheels, 4-wheel-drive with gear-diffs and run with GT style bodies. In most countries the Cobra GT    2-speed gearbox is allowed.

The Cobra GT takes all the durable suspension and transmission parts from the Cobra Buggy, combined with the light  2-speed SL8 gearbox from Serpent 966-TE, a 4-shoe competition style clutch and front and rear geardiffs.  The Cobra GT has strong bodymounts to suit the popular bodies, and has a large captured foam front bumper.  The radio-tray is very low, and mounts all the electronics with ease.

The Serpent Cobra GT is expected to hit the market in start may  2012.  Serpent takes part in the GT World Championships 2012 in Puerto Rico, South America this weekend 25th march.

Team Serpent.”
