Jumbo Screw Catcher w/ SC10

Mini Screw Catcher w/ Losi Mini Late Model

Above you’ll see some of my cars on the mats. The top picture is my Team Associated SC10 on the Jumbo Screw Catcher. As you can see, the Jumbo Mat really lives up to it’s name. It’s enormous. I love it. It fits the width of my pit table perfect.

The Mini Screw Catcher is perfect for mini sized r/c’s. The one pictured is a Losi Mini Late Model running s Kipps Hobbies EDM body kit. It fits great with ample room to take it apart. If you only run minis, this might just be the mat for you.

Cow describes their line of mats as “60 mil non-transferring, reverse-magnetic, easy to clean, matte white work surface, combined with permanently bonded closed foam part corals. Extremely durable, Perfectly weighted, the ultimate R/C work mat. “Herd screws and parts together and keep them there!” order with zippered vinyl storage bag or without”.

From my past few months with these mats, I can honestly say they are a SOLID product and a great buy. They are thick, heavy duty, and magnetic. This means they will stay in place on your table without shuffling around. The fact that the entire thing is magnetic is awesome.. this means no lost E-Clips or screws, since if you drop one on the mat it will stick there instead of bouncing off somewhere never to be found again (could not tell you how many screws I’ve lost this way). The dividers are awesome for working on vehicles as well because you can separate the screws into different compartments and not get confused what goes where. I LOVE this feature.

The mats are flexible, so you can loosely roll them up if needed. I prefer using the optional bag and lay the mat flat in my trunk for when I go to races. The mat is also VERY easy to clean.. it’s washable so when your filthy truck is repaired you aren’t stuck with a disgusting pit area like if you use a pit towel.. Simply wet a paper towel and wipe it down, then its like brand new!

I love using the Jumbo mat for everything, home & track. I was using the Mini mat in conjunction for a while, but didn’t like transporting and setting up 2 mats at the track. I condensed and just use the jumbo for all my classes. It can be cumbersome (because its big and heavy) if you have a long hike from the car to the track, it may require an additional trip back and forth. But it’s well worth it and who couldn’t use an extra couple steps of exercise these days?

Overall I find myself using just the Jumbo mat since it’s so versatile and anything will fit on it. My suggestion would to be buy the biggest you can afford and stick with that. If you want more portability, the Mini is definitely easier to manage and maneuver from car to track. It’s not big enough for Short Course trucks tho, which is my main racing focus these days. If you can afford it, you could always get both like I did and leave the big mat home, and take the small one to the track. It’s really up to you. The Mini would be fine for taking apart one end of a truck, you just cannot fit the entire truck on it like you can the jumbo.

So, is it worth the cost you ask? I’d say so. It’s a great conversation starter I’ve found as well.
