Traxxas Slash 2wd LCG Chassis Shootout

WMD Eliminator

Handling

Matt – (3) Could use more steering, maybe more weight in the front
Kevin – (4.5) Seemed to push a lot less than the STRC, could drift when I wanted to and pull into corner faster. No traction roll, and nimble
Jarodd – (2) A lot of body roll, had to be hard on the brakes to make it turn, and easy on throttle to make it turn through corner exit
Jim – (4) Truck handled well, no traction rolling
Average Rating: 3.375

Jumping Ability

Matt – (4) Very good jumper. Landings were soft and controllable
Kevin – (4) Seemed to fly ok, didn’t bottom out as hard as STRC
Jarodd – (2) Jumped level, but had to be careful to not hold any throttle at beginning of jump
Jim – (4) Jumped well, could clear the double in front of the driver’s stand. if jump was mistimed it landed heavy and hard
Average Score: 3.5

Speed

Matt – (4) Good speed on the straight, had to go slower at start of corner, but once exiting corner it had a lot of pop
Kevin – (4) Good speed, fast enough to clear double at times
Jarodd – (3) Good speed on straight, but had to be careful with throttle entering straight
Jim – (4) Above average speed on straight, and coming through corners
Average Score: 3.75

Ease of Assembly * Note: Only one person worked on this build

Jim – (5) kit arrived pre-assembled except screws were left intentionally loose. Slash front and rear clip installed as a unit. Very good engineering, no issues on assembly
Average Score: 5

Durability

Matt – (4) Nothing broke, everything seemed to work ok. Had a slight steering issue prior to test, but it was a radio adjustment only
Kevin – (5) No breakage
Jarodd – (4) No breakage
Jim – (3) Truck is tough (all aluminum) no breakage during test, but during practice the front left steering brace needed repair (a Traxxas part, not WMD)
Average Score: 4

Notes

Matt – This one gets the coolness factor. Plenty of bling and yet still performs
Jim – Handling was very predictable and smooth

‘jarodd’ realy seems to have it in for WMD, what a shame i’m getting one soon as i can!

I think he has a different driving style than the rest of us. He’s a really good driver though. All of the chassis did well, and I really liked the WMD. Can’t really go wrong with any of them.

It was a good time wheeling all 3 trucks. All 3 were a HUGE improvement over a stock Slash in the handling department. To me, they each had a little different character in handling/jumping, etc. The Slice chassis was on rails. Period. It turned in-thru-off corners awesome + with that mid mount motor set up it is just plain cool. The WMD was a blast to wheel as well but I agree with everyone else, it seemed to push more due to lighter front end and required more use of brake to get it to turn tight. I found it very predictable though. The STRC Slash seemed (to me) to have a nice balance all around the track.
As we all agreed, with some fine tuning on shock oil, springs and overall set up any/all 3 would be formidable opponents on the racetrack
