Converting Your Front Hubs to Hex – Losi and Team Associated Short Course

While we are preparing our trucks for Motorama next week, we started to look at what tires we were going to run. While looking at tires, it became obvious our wheels needed to go.  My Losi XXX-SCT and Kevin’s Team Associated SC10 were both still utilizing the stock hubs. These are the versions which require bearings in the front wheels, as opposed to a 12mm hex with bearings in the hub. Kevin’s SC10 also used a pin drive in the rear, as opposed to hex. The Losi comes stock with rear hexes.

Switching to a hex design does a couple of things for us. First and foremost the wheel choices skyrocket. There are several more options available for a 12mm hex than there are for the stock hubs. Second, having 12mm hex on all four corners allows the possibility of rotating your tires. On a 2wd truck, the rear tires will wear out more quickly. By rotating your tires front to back you can extend tire life for the entire set.

Here are the two trucks getting converted.
