Team Soup visits RC Madness for 2012 Turkey Gobbler Off-Road Race

So here is the indoor carpet off-road track. The jumps, carpet, etc are all very familiar looking. The track is a lot like CRC‘s was last year, but if you sprinkled Miracle Gro on it. Madness is at least twice the size.

Wall-ride.

Here’s a shot of the pit area. Also very nice. Shelves, power boxes, chairs.. awesome. I like when I don’t have to cart my own stuff in.

Here are the heat boards and scoring monitor.

The SSC Slash 4×4 in action (I need a better camera).

Matt  watching his truck.

Someone who wasn’t watching theirs.. lol.

Another shot of the wall ride.

A sweet 22T I couldn’t keep my eyes off of all day. Owned by Mark Surprenant. Did I mention I want Stadium Truck to make a comeback? They didn’t race them here. They had maybe 5 of them at RCHR. Seems people have them, they just opt to not bring them to the track.

Also, these are the tires Mark, and other T-RCE guys were running on their 4×4’s. They are Schumacher Mini Pins. They look like they provide CRAZY traction on the carpet. They also look like they’d make the carpet last about 1 race, haha. I don’t think these will ever be legal at CRC.

More pit shots.

It’s safe to say that RC Madness has a decent selection of inventory.

This is part of their indoor rock crawling area.

The carpet on-road track.

They race World GT’s and other classes like that. They also race Formula 1, which I’ve personally never seen raced before. They look pretty cool.

Matt marshalling the outside corner. The thin smile barely covers his exhaustion from the weekend’s strenuous racing/driving schedule.

SCB spec class is something else RC Madness runs. You aren’t allow to change anything in the truck. Just run it out of the box.

Matt again brings home some hardware. He won the 4wd SC B Main.

Team RCE cleaned house in 4WD SC, Taking the Win, TQ, and 2nd in the A Main.

Overall it was a long and tiring weekend. By the end we were really dragging our feet. We had a blast on the carpet. It’s nice not to have to search for traction. It is violent though. There is no forgiveness to carpet racing with wood jumps like there is with dirt/clay. It’s still a blast despite the brutality of it.

RC Madness was already on my list of tracks to return to since SC Nationals, and return I did. We’ll be back again at some point. Always a good time.
