AJS Machine SC10 Battery Wrench Strap Review

This product is made by AJS Machine. They are a local machine shop that’s been making sweet aluminum r/c goodies since 2002. Their primary focus is Aluminum Workstands, but they’ve recently expanded their market and are making some aftermarket parts for certain vehicles.

This Battery Wrench Strap allows you to run top-port 2s Lipo packs in the Team Associated SC10. The stock hinged strap requires a lot of grinding to get it to work with these types of batteries. The stock strap also has a little stopper molded into it to keep the battery forward. Utilizing a flat strap like this AJS Machine one, it allows you to adjust battery position for optimal weight distribution (move it forward for more steering, back for more rear traction). There is also a slot down the center that allows for use of balance port as well (say if you are using a Lipo Alarm).

With Battery all the way forward

With the battery all the way back

It’s machined from 1/16″ aluminum which might seem a tad thin, but with several races on it, it hasn’t budged. It does what it’s meant to do, hold the battery in securely. It solved a problem we had with the stock strap (by “we”, all 3 of our “Team Soup” drivers have this product in our 2wd Associated SC10’s). It’s also cheaper than the Factory Team battery strap that Associated offers, which is a plus for the racer on a budget. This strap weighs about 10g less than the stock hinge system. It uses the stock wingnuts or you can use Associated blue aluminum thumb screws as shown (not included, Associated part # 1787).

Overall, it’s a solid product. If you run top-port lipos, want to shave a little weight, and gain a little bling… this is $20 well spent.
