JConcepts Hi Flow Body – Review

As you saw in the Install post, I picked up the JConcepts Hi Flow SCT body for my Losi XXX-SCT. In the original post, I detailed how to cut out the various relief holes and mount the body to your truck.

RC Soup went to Motorama in Harrisburg, PA, this past weekend. This was my first opportunity to try out the new body. The race was run on a rather large indoor track, with a loamy surface. There were plenty of big jumps, giving a lot of opportunities to air out the truck.

In this panoramic shot, the front straight looks curved. The stenciled sponsors you see along the bottom of the picture are actually on the front straight. And it is indeed a straight, not curved like the picture makes it look.

During the Friday practice session, I tried several times to get the truck to parachute, by flying off the ramps with a nose up attitude. After several attempts, I was unable to get it to parachute. The way the truck flies is very controllable. You can “feel” the difference in the body. I was very impressed with the performance.

Now, this was an indoor track, without the interference of mother nature. I’ll be curious to see if the body performs this well outside, when a strong headwind can flip the errant truck. I’ll report back on that in the Spring, but for now I’ll call this body a win. It is a definite upgrade over stock, and helps tremendously with the parachute effect you find on short course trucks. I recommend picking one up for your truck, and see the difference for yourselves.
