Short Course Nationals @ R/C Madness Race Coverage

They finished up most of the 3rd round of qualifying before it got dark. All they had left were the 1/5 scales on the large track and the classes on the small track. The remaining small track classes were run first thing (8:30) on Sunday. Once those were out of the way, they set up the mains and did a huge door prize giveaway. Everyone stood in line to get a raffle ticket. Once everyone had one they drew them one by one, handing out everything from AKA & Pro-Line tires, to vouchers for Novak Brushless systems, Losi Water Bottles, T-Shirts, etc.. leaving the big stuff for last. In fact, they gave away so much stuff that they gave everyone SOMETHING before dumping all the tickets back in and drawing for the remaining stuff. They gave away some high end Spektrum receivers, as well as an Associated SC10RS RTR. Joe Ford from Castle came up and handed out some Mamba Max Pro ESC’s and 1410 Motors. Then the Losi guys stepped up and gave away a XXX-SCT, XXX-SCB, and a SCTE 4wd SC. It was very cool that everyone walked away with something. I personally walked away with a Schumacher T-shirt and a SWEET Futaba Crystal Case (lol). Seriously, anyone still running AM/FM that want’s this thing, use the Contact Page and send me your address.. it’s yours.

sweet Futaba Xtal case!

From the door prizes (which took quite a long time), they moved into the lower heats of 4wd SC. At this point it started to shower here and there (we had a good downpour in the middle of the drawings). It cleared up for a while and they got a bunch of racing in. This was until 4PM or so when the sky REALLY got interesting and Mother Nature decided we’d had enough fun for the weekend. It was unfortunate as the last few races would have been amazing to watch with the stiff competition they had all weekend.

We then collected our stuff in the trailer and waited for the storm to settle a bit before taking off for the weekend and making the 4 hour return drive home.

Overall it was a good time. The drive wasn’t bad at all, the facility was great, and we got to meet some new friends. We’ll likely be back next year, but for now our focus is turned to the Intergalactic Short Course Championships @ CRC in less than 3 weeks!
