Tamiya CR-01 Land Cruiser Review

The Tamiya CR-01 Land Cruiser was a fun kit build. What’s more fun you ask? Running it!

Tamiya really did their homework when it came to engineering this kit. It’s got diffs that lock without taking the axles apart, cantilever suspension, super detailed body, and great fit and finish.

The CR-01 is in a class by itself. When you look at the r/c crawling world, it’s broken down into many segments (Supers, Comp Crawlers, Scalers, etc). Most scalers (trucks that are intended to look VERY scale), have 1.9″ wheels and tires, while most comp crawlers use 2.2″ wheels and tires.

The CR-01 uses 2.2″ like a comp crawler, but has the detail in the body of a scaler. Granted, the proportions of the wheels give it an unrealistic monster stance, I find the CR-01 fits somewhere between a scaler and a traditional crawler. A hybrid of sorts.
