CRC Speedsport Lipo earns The Golden Ladle Award

As RC Soup has grown over the past couple of years, we’ve been through our share of projects. They’ve varied from shootouts, to vehicle builds, reviews, racing, or just bashing around town.

With these projects, we’re finding various products that we can count on over and over again. Literally. We’ll pull that particular item out of one project and keep bouncing it to the next, and the next, and the next. And it just keeps taking the abuse, never letting up, never wearing down, seemingly asking for more.

RC Soup would like to recognize these products as we come across them. Ladies and gentleman, may I present to you The Golden Ladle Award.

So you probably figured out by now who the first recipient is.

One constant in electric vehicles is the battery. We need a good battery that’ll stand up to the constant abuse we put them through.

We first used the CRC 5300Mah 40C 2S Speedsport Lipo in the Slash 4×4 LCG Shootout last summer. Since that time, we’ve used it in testing and reviewing so many projects I’ve lost count. I’ve literally got over 200 cycles on the one CRC Speedsport Lipo. We used three of the same battery as the control battery in our Slash LCG shootout. All three batteries have outlasted so many other brands. No puffing, great runtime, the same power they had the day they were fresh out of the box. Even today, I recharged mine to run in a Tamiya project. I checked the pack’s charge with my Viper RC Pro Gauge. The two cells were at 4.20/4.20. This wasn’t a balance charge, but a straight up charge on my Thunder T6 charger. Every time I charge this pack, the two cells are within .005 volts of each other. The case is still as sturdy as the first time I slipped it into the SSC Slash 4×4. Most of the other packs I’ve used this much have had their cases start to separate. Some have puffed, others just had weak cases. But the CRC Speedsport Lipo is still in great shape.

With as much use as we’ve put this battery through, and the fact that it can always be counted on to be there for us, we are pleased to announce that the CRC 5300 Mah 40C 2S Speedsport Lipo is the inaugural recipient of The Golden Ladle Award! Check out that picture, you can see the abuse we’ve put this battery through! This award was definitely hard earned! Congratulations!

    Hi,

Any idea where can i buy one of these online in the uk?

I’ve searched my usual mail order for this battery and it suggested

    Thunder Power RC Lipo 5300mAh 2S – 7.4V – 65C/130C

I don’t know what the 65C/130C (why is there a slash?) and i’m not sure if i need all of 65C to run my 17.5T 2wd SCT.

    Thanks for a great blog
