Tamiya CR-01 Land Cruiser Build Up

As mentioned in the beginning of this post, everything so far for this build has been donated. We want to thank those who donated once again. We couldn’t have done this without you!

RC4WD sent us their Outcry ESC. It’s a brushed electronic speed control that handles stock or slower motors, has drag brake, reverse, and an external BEC wired right into it! Not bad for under $50!

Venom R/C sent us one of their awesome Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries. It’s the 5000mah, 40C, 2S hard case model. They seem to have replaced the one they sent us with a new 50C model, but as you can see Here, they offer a TON of different LiPo batteries for every need. The current equivalent is this one.

The next thing we needed was a radio. After canvasing some of the folks over on RCMT.net (one of my most frequented message boards), a member messaged me offering to donate a new FlySky 2.4 GHZ on behalf of RCMT-HI. The Flysky radio is a budget one from HobbyPartz. Regardless of it’s price point (dirt cheap), it’s STILL a 2.4ghz radio, with a TINY receiver, and what’s even more crazy, is it comes with a usb port, and cable, to be able to use it as a video game controller on your PC for things like VRC.

Below I’ve installed the electronics and you can see how everything lays out in the truck. Nothing is cramped, plenty of room on the chassis for all the components.

Next up, body!

Awesome build, so detailed I could follow it instead of the instructions!;) I love these trucks and can’t wait to see how it turns out.
