Tamiya CR-01 Land Cruiser Build Up

Up next is the servo saver. This is the first time I’ve ever had to build a servo saver from scratch. It’s made of several plastic pieces and 3 metal U-shaped springs that stack on the main part.

Once it’s together it works and looks just like a regular servo saver you’d buy from Kimbrough or similar company. Below you can see it installed along with the servo mount brackets.

Next we install the servo bed on top of the axles as well as install the steering linkage.

Here’s a top view of the servo installed and the linkage hooked up.

Below is the servo mounted to the front axle with the servo guard installed.

Again, the Tamiya manual is awesome. Look how easy it is to ensure you have your links to the proper length.

Next is the rear axle, which is setup identical to the front (servo bed and all). You can actually make this truck have 4 wheel steering if you run a 2nd servo and a Y Harness. It comes with the linkage to do so. For this we are running it normal 2 wheel steering, in which case the rear steering gets locked out as shown below. The top link mounts to the servo bed so it does not move back and forth.

Awesome build, so detailed I could follow it instead of the instructions!;) I love these trucks and can’t wait to see how it turns out.
