Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho Kit review

For those that missed our initial build of this truck, click here.

I’ve never owned an RC like the Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho. Everything up until now has been specifically geared towards racing. Always searching for more speed, finding a way to shave a few tenths of a second off of a lap. When driving the SCX1o, it’s a different frame of mind. It’s a different attitude. With a top speed of approximately 5 mph, it is a huge adjustment running the SCX10.

The kit was relatively easy to build. There were a few issues with the manual, which I outlined in the build. But with common sense, you can find your way through it relatively easily.

The object of a kit like this is two fold. First and foremost is scale appearance. The included Toyota body has a very realistic shape. It looks like a real truck. The included 1.9″ tires are proportional to the rest of the truck. It has coil over shocks, with a fake shock reservoir. That part is optional, they also include shock caps without the fake reservoir.  You can build it with whichever look you prefer. The shocks are realistic looking. Ever see a jacked up Toyota 4×4? That’s what this truck looks like. This is a good thing. It has a very authentic appearance. With five full tires and wheels, you have a full size spare on the back, which adds even further to the scale appearance.
