Atomik V2MR 1/10 2WD Buggy Build Up

The Atomik V2MR 2wd race buggy kit is the newest addition to the Atomik RC line of vehicles. Unlike the other cars they have come out with which are RTR, this breath of fresh air is offered in kit form. It’s also their first real “Racing” vehicle. They offer a number of other cool cars/trucks and even a dirtbike, but in my eye those have always been geared more towards the basher. This is race bred through and through with the amount of options it has, as well as it’s lack of tires included (every track is different, why make you pay for tires you will never use? TLR does this too).

For those not familiar with Atomik RC, they are a sister company of Venom Group, the Lipo manufacturer. In years past they sold vehicles under the Venom brand, but they felt it best to start using the Atomik brand for all vehicle releases, and I think it’s done well for them.

I’ll let Atomik give you the general overview on the kit. This is the lowdown from their site.

Introducing the Atomik V2MR 1:10 Race Buggy kit. We worked closely with our Factory Team Drivers to develop the exact specs racers demand today out of their 2WD buggies. The V2MR has a must have list of features, such as fully adjustable race geometry, mid or rear motor mounting option and a battery tray designed to fit the most popular Shorty and Saddle style LiPO battery packs.

Our designers also equipped the V2MR with a host of premium parts such as titanium tie rods, titanium-nitride coated shock shafts, big bore aluminum shocks, and a fully adjustable ball diff with ceramic balls to make sure your race machine performs flawlessly heat after heat. With all these features the new V2MR is the perfect foundation to build your next winning platform.

Features:

  • Threaded aluminum big bore shocks
  • Red anodized alloy motor plate
  • Carbon fiber battery cover
  • Titanium Tie rods
  • Titanium-Nitride plated Shock Shafts
  • Includes parts for Mid or Rear motor setups
  • Standard & metric front axles accommodate a variety of wheel brands
  • Captured Pin CVD’s
  • Polycarbonate Cab Forward designed body
  • Fully adjustable racing suspension geometry

As you can see, the list of included items is impressive. You get all that.. the just $200 on their site (at time of writing). That’s pretty awesome. Well, onto the good stuff shall we? Here’s the build up. This was one of the easiest to follow manuals I’ve used. Thumbs up Atomik!

So here’s the kit box. Nothing fancy, no picture of a buggy on it, just the logos and a can drawing. It’s still a nice looking box.. with a matte finish, and all the logos are spot varnished (sorry working in the print industry, I’m a nerd about subtle things like that). Ignore the gouge in the box, UPS sucks.

It has a shoebox lid, so it’s easy to keep stuff in. As a matter of fact, we’ve been keeping all of our spares in the box when we take it to the track. It’s worked out well and keeps the parts separate from everything else.

Here it is with everything spread out on the CowRC work mat that I use for every build up. Bags are clearly labeled with letters.
